We look forward to welcoming you to our learn to sailing class this summer! 

 is required for participation. Please complete at your convenience. If you registered more than one participant (please note all minors must be accompanied by an adult), please respond to this email indicating all participant names and complete a subsequent participation form(s).

The 12-hour learn to sail class is Saturday and Sunday from 11:00am-5:00pm - please try to be on time. You can park right at the sailing center, ignoring the signs at the entry that you must be a marina tenant or member to park. 

The class is mostly on the water, so please dress for the weather and bring an extra layer.  A water bottle and sun protection are usually a good idea. We will take a 30-45 minute break midday to use the bathroom and eat a snack. Please bring a snack or lunch as appropriate for your caloric needs. We try to avoid hangry. 

They objective of the class is to teach you the sailing skills so that you are comfortable and confident enough to join the sailing club and take a boat out on a nice day.

Advanced Techniques: Build on foundational skills with tacking, jibing, and sail trimming exercises.

Safety Procedures: Learn crucial safety protocols, including man-overboard drills and emergency handling.

Independent Sailing: Practice sailing independently with instructor support, refining techniques and boosting confidence.

Review and Q&A: Recap key concepts, address questions, and receive personalized feedback.

With Cancellation Protection:
Cancel more than 7 days prior to the start of your program: You will receive a full refund of the registration fee (excluding the protection fee).
Cancel within 7 days of the program start date: You will receive a credit equal to the registration amount, valid for 2 years from the original transaction date. This credit can be used toward any future sailing program.

Without Cancellation Protection:
Cancel more than 7 days prior to the start of your program: You will receive a credit equal to $100 less the registration amount, valid for 1 year from the original transaction date. This credit can be used toward any future sailing program.
Cancel within 7 days of the program start date: No refund or credit will be issued, regardless of the reason for cancellation.

Important Notes
All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email to merrillsc@cornell.edu. Program start date is defined as the first day of your registered session. Credits are non-transferable and must be used by the original participant.
